- THE ICON FUND was inspired by an act of love. Elias and Angela Damianakis shared the divinely inspired Vision of preserving and enriching the Orthodox Christian Church with communities around the USA. The demand as since expanded to Alaska, Greece, Turkey and Russia. Keenly aware of their many blessings, this is a way to share the faith imparted by the Orthodox faith with the rest of the world.
THE ICON FUND Foundation was established in 1991 as a Gift of Love program by Elias Damianakis, matching 2 for 1 the generous donations made by pious donors to Orthodox Churches around the country.
A grandchild of an Orthodox Christian priests, Elias Damianakis wanted to better the world through the promotion of Orthodox Christian Art in-particular Iconography taught to him. Consequently, the purpose of THE ICON FUND is to provide Iconography or Icon Restoration to Historically significant Churches to help them carry out unique and appropriate Liturgical Space for proper Orthodox Worship. The Foundation hopes these projects will help spread the Christian message while improving the quality of life of Orthodox stewards around the world.
Elias Damianakis' THE ICON FUND makes grants for the maintenance, growth and preservation of Iconography and Liturgical Arts of the Orthodox Christian Church throughout the world. The Fund looks for creative projects or programs that serve as catalysts for progress in the church and have a lasting impact. The Foundation focuses primarily on projects or programs where traditional sources of funding are unavailable.
